14+ Years in Acupuncture & Integrative Oncology

Patients Teach Me What Cancer Support Means

For more than fourteen years, I’ve helped people move through cancer treatment with acupuncture grounded in compassion, clinical insight and evidence‑informed care.

When patients see me, they’re often carrying fear, hope, exhaustion and questions that don’t always have easy answers. My work begins by creating a space where they feel understood and never alone.

As the first Oncology Acupuncturist at the flagship campus of City of Hope, one of the nation’s top 10 NCI‑designated cancer centers, I helped innovate our acupuncture program within the Cherng Center for Integrative Oncology.

Very few acupuncturists in the United States practice daily within oncology units, infusion centers and multidisciplinary medical teams, so working inside a major cancer hospital has given me a rare perspective. This experience has shaped my understanding of what patients truly go through and has taught me how to deliver acupuncture that is not only clinically integrated but safe for even the most complex cases.

Every day, I collaborate with an integrative team of oncologists, palliative care physicians, psychiatrists, pain specialists, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, massage therapists, music therapists and spiritual care providers. Together, we design supportive care plans that ease symptoms, reduce stress and help patients feel more grounded.

I’ve also launched our acupuncture‑during‑infusion program, contributed to research protocol development, and trained members of our integrative team — all with the goal of expanding meaningful, safe and accessible supportive care.

Before joining City of Hope, I practiced in the Integrative Oncology, Chronic Pain and Addiction Medicine departments at Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco. I also previously worked in private practice, where I grew and refined my clinical skills.

In addition to acupuncture, I also have strong roots in herbal medicine from Mayway, a Chinese herb supplier where I gained hands‑on experience as Dispensary Manager and Herbal Consultant — a foundation that continues to inform my clinical perspective today.

Every patient’s story is unique. My role is to walk with them — offering a steady presence and a place where they can feel grounded, cared for and truly seen.

Alongside my hospital work, I am currently offering highly personalized care through Acu Cancer Support in Los Angeles. This is my part time private practice, where I’m now accepting a limited number of patients to work in close partnership throughout their treatment journey.
